Tara and Chuck met during the fall of 2004. Tara was the Store Manager of the Willowbrook Mall (NJ) Hot Topic and Chuck was working at California Pizza Kitchen at said mall. Tara and her District Manager, Deb, would spend many working lunches at CPK, and Chuck was almost always their server. His sarcastic, raw, sense of humor always made their day. He once used the word "Gothopotamus" to describe certain customers that may frequent a sister store to Hot Topic. Deb and Tara both nearly spit their food all over the table. Tara figured if he had the cajones to possibly insult her boss and ruin his chance of a decent tip, and yet instead succeed in making her remember him forever, he was pretty ok.
Chuck had no qualms about visiting Tara at work and making fun of her for selling fast fading trends to kids. During his "final" visit to her (he was leaving CPK to pursue a career in computers) he gave her a CD and said, "This band is going to save rock and roll". She immediately put it in the CD player at work (even though it wasn't a Hot Topic sanctioned CD....shhhh.....) and said to herself, "Hmmm...the lead singer sounds familiar". She looked them up on MySpace (yes, it was cool 5 years ago) and immediately friended them. The band was Love Cinema Vol. 6, and Tara soon learned that her future husband was the lead singer. Through the magic of MySpace, Tara and Chuck began communicating via the interwebs, and soon actually used the phone to speak to each other, and not just text. Tara distinctly remembers the day when Chuck said to her, "Wow! You're a person who calls me!" (She knew this was a small, yet good sign).
Tara went to see Chuck's band play, and he came to see her perform in the second act of the play, Fuddy Meers. (She was also in the first act, but that's another story). The rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward to April 2009, when they moved into the most perfect apartment, in the most perfect location. Tara brought her cat Willow (whom she wouldn't have had, if it weren't for Chuck), and a month later they adopted Oz (yay for Buffy references!!)
Unbeknownst to almost everyone, Tara and Chuck decided in October 2009 that they wanted to get married the following fall. They booked their venue and date, and kept it a secret from most. On New Year's Eve, Chuck proposed, using the stone from Tara's great-grandmother Tilly's engagement ring, put into the most beautiful setting. Tara took this opportunity to wish all her friends a Happy New Year and let them know she was getting married.
very interesting story about how you met. i am now informed.
ReplyDeleteI honestly almost shed a tear reading this story. Knowing that I was around when all of this was happening (even though I didn't know all the details) back when we knew Tara as "that redhead Chuck's dating" LOL! Now she has become very close to me and I want to wish you both the best of luck in what I know will be a very prosperous future!!! I love you both and can't wait for the wedding!!!
